Clinic: When Breeding and Sport Meet
Come and experience the two popular trainers Bjarne Nielsen and Dennis Fisker training riders at different levels on Danish Warmblood horses, some of which have conformation traits that challenge training.

If you have a horse that may not be built in the most optimal way, what do you do? Can training make a difference? – Yes, state the two trainers Bjarne Nielsen and Dennis Fisker unanimously: there are no bad competition horses, as long as they are trained correctly!

It is always entertaining to listen to Dennis Fisker and Bjarne Nielsen teach and share their knowledge, and it is a real highlight that these two are joining forces at the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Herning to give the audience a great experience along with useful tips and advice for their own training. This will take place in a clinic on Thursday evening, March 5, titled: When Breeding and Sport Meet – Presented by Hornsyld Købmandsgaard. The venue is Dansk Hesteforsikring Arena E, which will host this exciting clinic, open to everyone with a Thursday ticket to the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing or a Thursday ticket to the Hest & Rytter trade fair.

The Connection Between Conformation and Rideability
There has been increasing focus on the importance of a horse’s conformation (exterior), as it greatly influences how easily a horse functions as a riding horse, just as durability and soundness depend on healthy conformation. If a horse struggles with certain movements or does not fully accept the bit, could this be due to the way it is built? – Yes, emphasizes Bjarne Nielsen, very much so. It does not have to be an unsolvable problem, but it is important to recognize why the issue has arisen. And here, the horse’s conformation can be part of the explanation. The solution is therefore “work smarter, not harder” – meaning do not fight the horse, but instead find alternative training methods that take the horse’s conformation and resulting weaknesses into account.

Dennis and Bjarne will jointly assess the horses selected to participate in this exciting clinic and explain the advantages and disadvantages of their conformation, as well as provide valuable training advice.

Sport horse breeding and sport are inseparably connected – there is no sport without breeding and vice versa. Breeding and sport must, in simple terms, support and strengthen each other! For Danish Warmblood, it is a great pleasure and joy that the new dressage cup for amateur riders on Danish Warmblood horses, the Helgstrand Dressage DWB Amateur Cup, has become so popular among riders. We look forward to seeing the 20 finalists again during the Stallion Licensing. Danish Warmblood aims to unite breeding and sport, and this is exactly what we will do on Thursday evening in the clinic: When Breeding and Sport Meet.

Are You One of the Lucky Ones?
A number of Danish Warmblood horses will be selected to participate in this clinic, but we are keeping two spots open – one for a horse at LA level and one at MB level. If you would like to participate in the clinic with Dennis and Bjarne, submit your entry when registration opens on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones to ride in When Breeding and Sport Meet in Herning.
